The name St. Thomas High School has been synonymous with excellence in education in Houston for more than 100 years.... Founded in 1900 by the Basilian Fathers, St. Thomas High School is Houston's oldest and finest Catholic college preparatory school for young men.

St. Thomas offers:

  • a college-prep academic program that is second to none
  • an outstanding sports program that not only provides young athletes a chance to compete against the best teams in the state, but allows a number to prepare for collegiate athletics
  • a wide range of other activities designed to let each young man grow in goodness, discipline and knowledge

For more than a century, students have come to St. Thomas from schools and neighborhoods all over the Houston area. Our graduates enter some of the most prestigious universities in Texas and the nation. Our alumni are nearly 10,000 in number and have distinguished themselves in business, law, medicine, education and the Church. St. Thomas is a community of students, teachers, parents, alumni and friends who support and encourage one another in learning, playing and growing together as Christians.

Friendships made at St. Thomas last a lifetime. St. Thomas provides a caring, intellectually-challenging atmosphere in which young men develop the tools necessary to become successful in their future studies and careers. Emphasis is placed on the student's preparedness for an ever demanding and diverse world. Faithful to the mission of the Catholic Church, the school community seeks to actively share Christ's message in all endeavors, promote social justice through service to those in need and uphold the uniqueness and dignity of all. Faculty members create an atmosphere of mutual respect and openness, guiding each student to achieve his fullest potential. These exceptional teachers demonstrate expertise, love and enthusiasm for their fields of study while modeling Christian values in and outside of the classroom.
