A SENIOR’S OPINION Alexander-Smith Academy is a dynamic school providing challenging academics and a comfortable learning environment. Students become a part of a closely knit family where individuality is nurtured and appreciated. Teachers, administrators, and peers treat each personality with respect, cultivating an atmosphere of tolerance and acceptance. In the words of one senior, “You are allowed to grow into yourself and become an individual here at ASA.”
A rigorous curriculum prepares students for the college experience. However, the student determines his own level of educational challenge. Unique to ASA is the relaxed setting, which promotes unity. Teachers at this school are more than just good instructors; they are interested in their students on a personal level. This attitude fosters class participation, enthusiastic discussion, and ultimately, curiosity and excitement in the course. “My self-confidence along with my grades have improved tenfold since I enrolled at ASA,” says one student, a sentiment shared by most.
Alexander-Smith Academy offers the opportunity for personal enrichment and growth in a stimulating and caring surrounding. Another rewarding aspect of ASA is the four day school week. Since ASA does not hold classes on Fridays, students learn to handle the responsibilities that come with freedom. Many ASA students use this time to focus on their Olympic training, modeling, or other interests that may eventually become their life’s work. Fridays offer other students the opportunity to come to school for extra tutorial help, yearbook, and club activities.
