The Tenney School creates an environment in which students develop their academic skills and work ethic, leading to better performance in school and life. Accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools for grades 6 through 12 since 1979, this unique school offers a private, alternative education to approximately 60 students.
The school's primary approach is one student: one teacher which allows the student to efficiently develop according to his needs and abilities. Each student has their own individual teacher in the four major academic courses of mathematics, science, English and social studies. Two other courses are taught in small classes of four to eight students. This approach offers flexibility allowing the school to meet the needs of the honors, average and remedial student. A major effort is made to help students develop a strong work ethic and study skills. This structured and disciplined approach is combined with four half hour supervised study halls each day to help achieve the goals we embrace for our students.
